Koi Fish Kimonos

During my 6th year in high school I created outfits inspired by Japanese koi fish consisting of 3 kimonos. I researched into Japanese culture to explore their history and traditions. Each kimono has an induvial colour story and look. Fabric prints were created using a heat press with additional textured details through applicate and fringing. I wanted to use colours that are important in the Japanese culture using white, gold and red that resembles happiness, peace and wealth.
